Cotswolds – the most coveted English countryside

Situated to the west of London, many UK and foreign celebrities live in the Cotswolds: the Beckhams, Jeremy Clarkson (who has a farm there), and Beyonce and Jay-Z who are reportedly looking for a cottage there. It’s a picturesque, hilly area that looks like a postcard, dotted with tiny villages that sometimes have only one street, but always a dog-friendly pub. It is reminiscent of Belleville, an ideal town where it seems there are no worries.
Most cottages in the Cotswolds are made of local Jurassic limestone with a particular honey shade. They say it lights upthe area even on a grey day. The majority of the houses date back to the 17th century.
The region has long been famous for its sheep, which brought money to local households. They remain a mascot of the region, featured on the chocolate bars, fudge, and various local products.
Every little village has a couple of cosy tearooms, a couple of legendary restaurants, and a pub, of course. There are also antique stores – lots of them – as the residents love beautiful objects. You will also find home décor stores and even kitchen utensil stores. And a fragrant bakery for your morning pastries.
The cottages of the Cotswolds have spellbinding greenery around them. All the trees and bushes are perfectly manicured and shaped according to the latest horticultural trends. The houses are historical, but seamlessly renovated, and still carry that charm of good old England.
We definitely recommend spending a couple of days in this lovely region – preferably during the warmer months.
