Photo London Event by IDEA Books at Dover Street Market

IDEA Books welcomed a stylish crowd at Dover Street Market in London, celebrating the work of renowned photography authors.
KUTT, a cult 2000s magazine, launched their debut book.
British photographer Scarlett Carlos Clarke signed the last remaining copies of her book Podunk.
Alice Mann, a South African photographer, presented her latest photobook The Night Is Young, depicting South African school leavers.
Jackie Nicholson, a British documentary photographer, presented her first book, Clad, dedicated to her distinctive photographic style.
The afternoon was accompanied by a lovely soundtrack courtesy of French actress Joséphine de La Baume, with a 90s-inspired aesthetic.
We caught up with Jackie Nicholson at the signing to find out more about the making of Clad.
“I’m an artist in the sense that I do fine art work as well as fashion photography, but the two processes are completely different. When I do my fine art work, I work alone and it’s a very long process. I do a lot of research before I start making pictures. With fashion you really depend on your team, and it’s the content of the picture that is really important. So, if you only have one or two days, the whole team has to come together and have a collaborative creative project at the end of it. It’s very quick, so it’s a big difference.
I was working on a couple of art books and when I was in the editing process I kept coming across pictures from the 90s and the noughties — fashion pictures. And I thought: I should do a fashion book. I did an edit of all my favourite shoots and it’s not in chronological order. There is no hierarchy, it’s very democratic. I just decided to publish the stuff I love doing, the stuff I had the most fun working with — and the most creative people I’ve worked with over the last few years. So it includes magazine stories, but also Polaroids and large formats — 8×10, 4×5.”
