The Story Café – Sotheby’s

There is a hidden gem in the Sotheby’s quarter in London, and it is called The Story Café.
The concept of this café changes every two to three months, with the space fully redecorated accordingly: the wall colours, furniture, and even the menu.
New concepts often echo the exhibitions held in the main Sotheby’s hall within the same building.
One previous theme was dedicated to Blue Plaques, the iconic London signs marking buildings where famous figures once lived, with the café walls dressed in maps from floor to ceiling.
Currently (as of April 2026), the space features an exhibition dedicated to Icons, a book celebrating the masterpieces of all time sold through Sotheby’s.
We recommend visiting this lovely café at least once a quarter to see how it has been reimagined. It is also a wonderful spot to rub shoulders with collectors and auctioneers, who often pop in for a flat white.
